Standing At Stud to Approved Females

Eider is a sweet and extremely loyal dog. All he wants in the entire world is my approval. He’s naturally a very wide running dog on stock, with a strong fetch. He is one of the easiest dogs I’ve ever started on cattle, and in his first session he demonstrated a low heel, head bite and was able to easily pull the cattle off the fenceline. I often use him to dogbreak cattle for trials and lessons. He has a no-nonsense hard grip, and combined with his distance and bidability he makes short work of the job.

Unfortunately Eider believes that birds aren’t real, so ducks are not his forte, but he does work larger groups quite well. He is an easy and natural fetcher on all stock, but especially on sheep and goats. He reads the bubble well and keeps the pressure low and appropriate in small pens and alleyways.

Eider is a linebreeding on one of my favorite dogs, Sweetgrass Painted Blue Skye. Skye was the mother of my first working bred dog, Eider’s grandfather Sterling. I loved watching her trial with her owner; and my mentor, Susan Severns. They brought home countless awards at local and national stock trials. There are more offspring that have doubled on Skye now, but Eider was the first, and he proved it was a great idea!
